Hawaii Fire Fighters Association (HFFA) Endorses Bernard Carvalho Jr. for Lt. Governor

The Hawaii Fire Fighters Association (HFFA) Executive Board, on behalf of State and County Fire Fighters throughout the state of Hawaii, voted unanimously to support Bernard Carvalho, Mayor of the County of Kauai, for the Office of Lieutenant Governor, State of Hawaii. "The Hawaii Fire Fighters Association has worked closely with Bernard Carvalho during his tenure as Kauai County Mayor and has always been candid with HFFA on issues that directly affect the men and women of the fire department," said HFFA President Robert "Bobby" Lee. "Mayor Carvalho has the innate ability to bring groups together to find solutions for the greater good and we believe his administrative experience and people skills will compliment the Office of the Governor."

Brian Doo, HFFA Kauai Division Chair, commented that "Bernard has guided our County through very difficult times and the men and women of the fire service on Kauai are truly thankful for his leadership."

"As Mayor of Kauai and Niihau for the past 10 years, I've worked closely with Hawaii's firefighters and understand the commitment and sacrifices they made, especially at times of great disaster. Our men and women fire fighters are critical in those moments as our State recently saw with the historic flooding on Kauai and Oahu and the ongoing, devastating lava flows on Hawaii Island," said Mayor Bernard Carvalho. "Mahalo to Bobby Lee and each and every one of the members of the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association across our state for your endorsement of my candidacy for the Office of Lieutenant Governor! I am grateful for your dedication and genuine willingness to help all in need, and look forward to continuing to work with you and your families."

HFFA is the exclusive bargaining representative for approximately 2,000 active duty and 1,000 retired State and County professional fire fighters in the State of Hawaii. The HFFA works daily to ensure equal and fair treatment within the fire fighter workplace through grievance resolution, labor arbitration, and the negotiation and administration of the fire fighter's collective bargaining agreement.
