State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO) Endorses Carvalho for Lt. Governor

The State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers (SHOPO) announced its endorsement of Bernard Carvalho for Lieutenant Governor at a press conference held this morning at the SHOPO Honolulu Headquarters.

"Bernard continues to exemplify what it means to be a leader that leads with aloha," said SHOPO President Malcolm F. Lutu. Mayor Carvalho has always been a staunch support of our Police Officers and SHOPO. Since becoming the Mayor of Kauai in 2008, Mayor Carvalho has showed his dedication to our officers by being one of the first Mayors to sign our past 2 contracts.

"His record of public service for over 30 years, shows our members and their families that he's dedicated into making Hawaiʻi a better place and moving Hawaiʻi into the future. With his executive-level administrative experience as mayor of Kauaʻi for the past decade, Bernard knows the crucial role unions play in supporting the rights of not only our government workers, but all working people of Hawaiʻi."

"Mahalo to Malcom Lutu and all the members of SHOPO for endorsing my candidacy for lieutenant governor," Carvalho said. "Our police officers work day in and day out to keep our communities safe for each and every one of us. As a leader, my strength is bridging resources and bringing people together and that's what I plan to do if elected. Together, we can help more people in bigger and better ways."
